An Analysis on the Association between Poverty and Marginalisation among the Marine fisher folk in Kerala
Fisheries sector is recognized as a promising sub-sector of agriculture and allied activities. It accounts for regarding about 5.4 per cent of the world fish production. India is a major producer of fish through aquaculture, ranks second within the world once China. The sector contributes regarding 1 per cent to the overall GDP and around 5.5 per cent of the GDP from Agriculture and allied activities. This study is an endeavor to analysis the interrelation between factors associated to poverty and marginalisation among the marine fisher folk in Kerala and additionally examines their significant difference across the three geographical regions.
