Listening skill in Language Learning

Abstract


     This article attempts to clarify the role of listening in language learning. It also presents the evolution of listening instruction in language teaching. It shows how the listening comprehension contributes to acquire language proficiency. This article explains the nature of listening and process of listening. It also presents the listening strategies and different types of listening. It also includes the possible measures to be taken to improve listening comprehension among technical students like strategy instruction, use of technology, infrastructure to be established, special training for the language instructors etc.
