Chemical Synthesis, Antimicrobial and Antioxidant Activity of Some Novel Chalcones
AbstractA series of novel chalcones from vanillin, 2-bromobenzaldehyde and different substituted acetophenones were synthesized by Claisen-Schmidt condensation in the presence of aqueous 50% sodium hydroxide at room temperature and assessed for their antimicrobial and antioxidant activity studies. The structure of these chalcones have been determined by physical and spectral data such as melting point, IR, 1 H-NMR, MS spectroscopy.
