Menopausal syndrome- a lifestyle disorder in urban and rural women in ayurevdic view.
Menopause is the stage which comes in every woman’s life. This causes many changes in her day to day life. The condition occurs due degenerative changes at the middle age from 40-55 yrs of age group. In recent years according to lifestyle changes early menopause is also seen. The current available treatment modalities have their own side effects which further depletes the already disturbed endocrine system. Though it is Anukta vyadhi it has its root in Tridoshas, Dhatu and Mala. A diagnostic survey study was designed to evaluate Dosha, Dhatu , Mala and Menopausal symptoms with help of Ayurvedic case paper. 75 woman (from Pune) and 75 woman (from periphery of Pune) were interviewed for a comparative study. Lifestyle is responsible for Tridosha, Rasa-Rakta Dushti and Aartav Dushti. Vata is responsible for Samprapti of menopausal syndrome by Avarodha, Dhatuykshaya , Ashaya Apakarsha gati. Pitta is responsible due to Atisaran/ Shushkata due to Ushna guna and Ashaya Apakarsha gati. Kapha is responsible due to Avarodha of Srotas. Rural and urban women both are equally suffering from menopausal syndrome due to incorrect Ahara-Vihar and Lifestyle and Dosha-Dhatu Vikruti.

• Pitta is responsible for samprapti of menopausal syndrome by either of three pathways-
Shushkata of Raja due to Ushna guna of Pitta .
Atisaran of Raja due to Ushna guna of Pitta.

• Kapha is responsible for samprapti of menopausal syndrome by –
Avarodha of srotas leading to pratilomatva of Vayu.
• Rajaswala aparicharya and stress are the substantial etiological factors causing obliteration.
• Rural and urban women both are equally suffering from menopausal syndrome
( p-value 0.02) due to Apatarpan and Santarpan respectively
