English Language Anxiety and Its Relation to English Achievement at High School Level

The purpose of this study was to find out the relationship between English Language Anxiety and English Achievement of High School students. The area of this study was Burdwandistrict.The sample was collected from four Bengali Medium schools of Burdwan district where students learn English as a second language. The sample was collected through Stratified Random Sampling Technique.Participants of the study include 220 high school students who learn English at least five years. The tools used in this study were an adapted version of Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety Scale ( Horwitz, Horwitz& Cope, 1986) and Achievement Test( Third Summative Evaluation) administered by schools. Results showed that there is a negative correlation exists between English language anxiety and achievement.
