A review on desiccant based cooling and dehumidification systems

Desiccant based assisted cooling and dehumidification systems are good alternative to the vapor compression based traditional air-conditioning systems especially in hot and humid areas. It promise more economical use by use of renewable solar energy or industrial waste heat. It reduces use of CFC based harmful refrigerants that are responsible of the depletion of ozone layer. The present review gives detailed information of the principle features and use of desiccant based cooling to extend climatic extensibility of the evaporative cooling. This is making the opportunities to further research of desiccant cooling system and its feasibility in coming days.
