Panorama of Pitta Dosha in Ayurveda

Abstract

Dosha are the most important biological entity responsible for the maintenance of homeostasis. Equilibrium to these Dosha results in heath while disequilibrium results in disease. They are responsible for all sorts of physiological functions and their regulation, have capacity to get vitiated by its own and are determinants of Prakriti.  As they play an immense role in body, a proper understanding of their characteristics, functions, features and causes of hypo and hyper functioning is of great importance for being a good physician. This article is aimed to discuss all these aspects of Pitta Dosha and relevance of its functions in contemporary sciences.
